Land Use Review Committee Announcements/Meeting Minutes
- Minutes from January 23, 2006 LURC meeting.
Committee Chair - Craig Hanway
The Queen Anne Community Council Land Use Review Committee is a special committee of the Queen Anne Community Council granted separate authority to comment on time-sensitive Land Use projects in our neighborhood. Anyone who lives or works on Queen Anne is eligible to serve as a voting member on the committee, but must first be nominated by the committee, and elected to a two year term by the Queen Anne Community Council Board of Trustees. Everyone in the QA community is invited to attend meetings and offer comments.
The Committee meets at 7:00 pm on the third Monday of each month, except August, in conjunction with the Planning Committee. The meeting place is the Queen Anne Community Center, 1901 First Ave. W., across the street from the swimming pool. The mission of the Land Use Review Committee, as written in the committee by-laws is "to promote the integrity of the Queen Anne community and the quality of life of its members, guided by the Queen Anne Plan and the Land Use Review & Planning Committee guidelines and goals, while bringing our individual expertise, resources and good will to bear on land use and design review issues".
To this end, we invite developers, land owners, and design professionals to present their plans to our committee. In this forum we offer comments and community feedback . Additionally, we attend and give testimony at scheduled Queen Anne/Magnolia Design Review meetings. It is our goal to engage projects early enough in the development process to effect positive change and to encourage development teams to incorporate Queen Anne's priorities into their planning.
The Land Use Review Committee is currently working with the City of Seattle to develop Design Guidelines which will apply to projects proposed near Queen Anne Ave. N. between W. McGraw St. and W. Galer St. These guidelines will be the basis for Design Review in this area. We are also developing the means to encourage developers of small scale, infill, lowrise multifamily projects in our neighborhood to incorporate our Land Use priorities into their planning.
