The Queen Anne Community Council Planning Committee is an open committee. There is no permanent membership. The Committee meets on the third Monday of each month, except August, in conjunction with the Land Use Review Committee. The meeting place is the Queen Anne Community Center, 1901 First Ave. W., across the street from the swimming pool. QACC Planning Committee looks at very broad and long-term city and neighborhood planning issues that have impact on the entire Queen Anne neighborhood.
We invite speakers from city government, professional planners and architects, developers and land owners, and representatives from other neighborhood groups, to give us information on potential changes in our area. By developing clear planning priorities and goals for our neighborhood, and participating in the community planning process, we hope to influence planning outcomes in positive ways, and lead the Queen Anne Community Councils in taking effective positions on these issues.
Some issues recently under discussion as of September 2005:
- The NorthBay mixed-use commercial/industrial development in Interbay being proposed by the Port of Seattle for their industrial land.
- The mixed-use commercial/residential development and potential Hub Urban Village proposed by the Interbay Neighborhood Association on commercial land around 16th Ave. W. and W. Dravus St..
- The Green Line Monorail Station Area Planning effort by the City of Seattle.
- The planning and zoning direction being taken by developers and the City of Seattle in the South Lake Union area.
- The possible annexation of the Broad/Denny/Aurora triangle into the Queen Anne Planning Area so that QA planning goals and objectives in that area can be effectively pursued.
- Working with the Picture Perfect Queen Anne group to develop and promote Queen Anne Ave. N. business district street beautification and sidewalk upgrades.
- Working with an interested neighborhood group who are attempting to develop a Special Review District for the blocks around Highland Ave. W.
- Participating in discussions and design studies for a new vision of the Central Waterfront.
